Coping with the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The manufacturing industry provides the most jobs than other industries like business. Not only that, the amount of people working in this industry also highly influences the world economy. Since the 1700s, there has been 4 major progresses in the manufacturing industry where artificial intelligence is more and more frequent and human power is less used.

The first revolution in the 18th century was when mass production first started. Machinery impacted agriculture and mining as people’s jobs were replaced by machines. In the early 1900s, the second industrial revolution introduced electricity to mass production, which triggered a noticeable economic growth along with causing a large unemployment number. For instance, many car productions were using automated machines and people were replaced by them. Moving on to the Industry 3.0 in the 20th century, more and more automation was used as technology becomes more modern. In this industry, technology like the Internet and computers conquered not only the manufacturing industry but also business and many more.

These industrial revolutions cause the number of unemployment to increase as people are less needed periodically. As we can see, we are now entering the fourth revolution where artificial intelligence is being developed intensively. Who knows? Maybe someday people’s jobs will be overshadowed by these robots. According to researches, more than half of the world’s employments are affected by the industrial revolutions from time to time. That implies that the career of people who are not working in the fields of computer and automation might be replaced by robots who can undertake their work.

There are many jobs that might be replaced by artificial intelligence, such as : waiters, pilots, bus drivers, and many more. Aware of the problems that these robots are causing to people’s careers, we should try to dive more into the world of artificial intelligence by taking computer majors in university and even work in a field of computers.
